Community
Parents & Friends Committee
The Parents and Friends Committee is comprised of parents and teachers from St Thomas‘ School.
The main aim of the Committee is to raise money to benefit the children of the school and to offer social activities for the school community. This is achieved by running various events which may be fundraising and/or social. Events such as our Major Student and Parent fundraising event, Special Friends Day, Father‘s Day Breakfast and Mother‘s Day Stall are some examples of activities. The Parents and Friends Committee also take an active role in helping organise school-based functions such as the Art Show.
Being a part of the Parents and Friends Committee is not a huge commitment. It is only as time consuming as you wish. The Committee meetings are held once a term at the school.
If you do not wish to be part of the Committee you can still help in other ways. We always need help in the various activities we run. Whether it is by donation, helpful ideas on fundraising, or even volunteering to help with a fundraiser or social event.
Funds raised by the Parents and Friends Committee enhance the school through furthering resources and supporting educational programs.
Being a member of the Committee does help from the social aspect and is a great way to become involved with the community and get to know other families. Many lasting friendships are made through primary school committees such as the Parents and Friends.
School Advisory Council (SAC)
The SAC provides a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. While the School Advisory Council does not have decision-making authority, it informs, advises and supports the principal and school leadership.
If there is anything you would like us to present to Marcus, Cathy and the school’s leadership team for consideration to improve or benefit our school, please send us an email or speak with one of the School Advisory Council representatives in person.

St Thomas’ Netball Club
St Thomas’ Netball Club (STNC) is part of the Whitehorse Netball Association and was originally founded to provide an outlet for school members wishing to play netball on the weekends.
Many years later, the club has grown into an integral part of the school and wider community. STNC offers a great opportunity to meet new people, especially for newcomers to the school, fostering friendships and shared interests through sport and social interaction.
We are proud of the club and its achievements. We continue to play an active role in the Parish community by contributing to the Fete, supporting the school’s netball competitions, and offering skills training for players.

St Thomas the Apostle Parish is part of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Order and we aim to ‘Be on Earth the Heart of God'– this is our charism. We work constantly to bring the message of Jesus Christ to other’s hearts and life through our actions and words. It is our fervent hope that we do this well through prayer, service, the sacraments and our warm and welcoming hospitality. Pope Francis encourages us to feel God’s love and presence in our lives and to follow Christ’s example with joy in our hearts.
