Student Leadership
Student Leadership
As a part of their learning students are offered the opportunity to develop their leadership skills. At St Thomas the Apostle School, we foster a leadership culture with all students, specifically focusing on Year 5 and Year 6 students as they move into and through their final years of primary education.
Leadership is demonstrated through the actions of people and can be demonstrated without the need of a title. There are many Leadership positions made available to students with a particular interest in developing their skills more formally, however all students are provided with the opportunity to learn about leadership.
School Captains
The School Captains represent the school and the student body. They are recognised across the school and as such, have greater accountability for all their actions.
They are responsible for assisting with the preparation of the agenda for school assemblies, leading assemblies and presenting certificates. The School Captains also greet guests to our school, conduct school tours and speak at a range of school functions and Masses.
School Leaders
Sport Leaders: Responsible for assisting with wellbeing activities and sporting events across the school, distributing yard duty bags, and hosting lunch time events.
Art Leaders: Assist with wellbeing activities and Art events, helping younger students engage in creative lunch time events.
Community Leaders: Build and nurture our school community, promoting school spirit and assisting with Social Justice activities.
Environment Leaders: Ensure key messages about caring for our environment are shared, promoting sustainability initiatives and organising programs.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
Two members from each class is elected as a SRC member by students and teachers from Prep to Year 6 each semester.
Students attend regular meetings with the Student Wellbeing Leader (Teacher) to discuss items highlighted in their Class Meetings, allowing for student voice to bring about positive change within the school.
